Demapis are not related to any other living species, and have not evolved much in the last several thousand years. Their feathers are long, comparable to those of an emu, and their tail feathers are used for balance. Demapi wings are flightless, but very similar to the build of modern birds, being used to aid them when jumping great distances. They have opposable thumbs on their feet and forelimbs to catch smaller prey with ease. Both genders can have crests on their heads.
